A few months back I ultimately dropped off the planet with my blogging. In retrospect just stopping wasn't the best decision but it happened and I feel I owe my readers an explanation.
When I started blogging it was on a whim. I had been searching for something I could do from home for a few years and had turned up unsuccessful time and time again falling into one pyramid scheme after another. When I finally found blogging I dove right in. I spent countless hours and many sleepless nights researching, writing, promoting, and networking. I worked my butt off to get my first 300 followers on Facebook and a website that looked decent enough to call myself a blogger. Unfortunately I quickly burnt out and my Brighter Day mood dwindled more and more.
After only 4 months of blogging I became so overwhelmed with everything that goes into a blog that I lost sight of what I wanted to bring to the table and my less than positive attitude was taking its tole on the quality of the work I was producing. In other words I couldn't make anyone else's day brighter when mine were all rainy. I decided I had no right to talk about trying to help others see the brighter side of things when I couldn't help myself.
For me this was a big low. I am always trying to stay positive. That's my thing. I'm optimistic. But at the time I wasn't. I was burnt out and tired of always trying to keep up. So I took some time off. In this time I have gotten back to my old self. I spent time with my mom and siblings who just moved over 24 hours away, I moved into my childhood apartment and started making it my own, we registered our little one for Kindergarten and we are planning a big party at the end of June. Concentrating just on everything going on with my family helped me to refocus and come back to blogging better than ever.
I feel much more relaxed now and with all the new things going on and changes I am so excited to start rolling out some great posts. I took time to keep researching (but on a better schedule) and planning for when I would start back up. Things I would change, things I needed to get a head start on so they would be ready when I was ready. I am truly aiming for July to be back in the full swing of things but this is my first post coming back and I have to say it feels good to write again.
Today's Tips for Having a Brighter Day
1. Take a break if you have to- there are more days to get things done so don't feel like it all has to be done right this minute
2. Perspective- a break might just mean taking a step back and re-evaluating why your doing what your doing anyhow
3. Make sure you come as high priority- doing things for others is great but if your doing it with a bad attitude it's not worth doing at all
