A 4-year old is something of a different species. While you can classify most kids as rowdy at 5 or whiny at 3, rambunctious at 2 or many other varieties (know-it-all, over-helpful, still learning to share) a 4-year old has the ability to encompass all of these characteristics and simply drive a parent mad.
For the sake of this post we will call my daughter Halleigh, Touchy Toucherson and Teagan, Nosey Nancy. Each one of the many nicknames they have accumulated since they turned 4.
Halleigh got hers when we started letting her out of the wagon at the grocery store. She wanted to be a big girl and since she is no longer tumbling over her own feet and can hold my hand originally I didn't see a problem with this. Oh the mistake I had made. She literally touched EVERYTHING!. As we walked through the store not only did she touch everything on the shelves but the clothes as we walked by. She ran her hand down the shelves in almost every aisle knocking something over. She touched the toy she wanted. The thing she thought mommy wanted. The thing daddy needs and of course when we got to the checkout we had to pick up and inspect every different candy before settling on the one mommy had suggested in the first place. So hence Touchy Toucherson.
Teagan has earned her nickname over time. The species of Nosey Nancy four year old is another fun kind. The one who MUST know where you're going and what you're doing at all times. If your laughing she must know what's so funny. If the door is closed she knows your doing something she isn't supposed to know about so again she MUST KNOW. If another child is doing something wrong she will tell you (granted she is not involved). We all love a Nosey Nancy.
4-year olds tend to have a variety of features that are so very "fun" for us parents. (Gee can you hear the sarcasm) I love my Touchy Toucherson. They all have those amazing qualities. I would love to hear from some other parents out their kids "favorite" Nickname. If you don't have one I'm sure we can arrange something :)
