Now that Halloween is over and Thanksgiving is just around the corner Halleigh and I decided it was time to dive into decorating. It took all of 3 seconds of convincing and flashing construction paper and she was in. These turkey's i thought were a great idea to start giving her the idea of what Thanksgiving is all about.
After a sleepover with Uncle Cole we started by cutting out the bodies for our turkey's out of brown construction paper followed by the feet. We were a little iffy about the shape but we figured it out.
Next on the first feather we wrote "I am thankful for..." and then continued to write different things on each feather. Then Glue and decorate. Add your feet, your "gobbler" as I call it, googly eyes and the beak. And you can always let them go the extra mile and continue to decorate for the extra "artistic".
Next we folded 3 pieces of yellow, red, and orange paper in half and in half again and made our feather shapes and cut out. We had 12 but probably could have gotten 24 out of it for more kids.
Our finished turkey's came out awesome and I think even the 11 year old liked it except when he realized he wrote his words going the opposite way. There's always next time.
What kind of things are you and your kids thankful for?
