Make learning letters fun by splatter painting. What kid doesn't like to have a little messy fun. And my version makes for some very easy clean up.
You will need: finger paint, water, white paper, masking tape, and straws, 1 bowl per color (pref plastic or Styrofoam), newspaper
Prep: Cover area with Newspaper!!!!!
Step 1. Add 1 tablespoon of paint and 2 tablespoons of water to each bowl (Each a different color of course)
Step 2. Add your straws to each bowl. (1 straw in each bowl per child, avoid "I don't have ONE!!!!")
Step 3. Pick a letter and make it out of masking tape on a sheet of paper
Ex. Halleigh and Teagan each picked the letter of their first name.
Step 4. Let them have at it. Show them a couple tricks they can do with the straws like flicking them or blowing through them and then let them figure out what works best for them. Continue until paper is very decorated but hopefully not brown. If it is, brown is nice too.
Step 5. Let dry
Step 6 Remove masking tape carefully. The paper may pull a little but no big deal, just be easy and the paint will still look just as cool. The letter should will show up where there isn't paint.
Discuss what things also start with that letter and what sound it makes. Even try practicing writing them if your up for another related task.
Cleanup: The watered down finger-paint is easy to clean up and the newspaper and Styrofoam bowls and straws all go in the trash. Easy as pie
Have fun
