Contradictory to how this sounds scheduling or at least having a daily routine can be incredibly time saving. Instead of spending all that time running around trying to figure out what to do next plan your day, your week or even your month ahead of time and save yourself some major frustration.
In September I started homeschooling my daughter. She's only in Pre-k and I took classes for teaching a couple years back so I knew some of the key things things I needed to get organized in order to be able to execute a steady learning schedule. It entailed making sure that key subjects like fine motor skills, reading, math, dramatic play, art and music. A school follows a strict curriculum but where my daughter will be tested next year for possible learning disabilities I didn't want to stretch her too far on a daily basis to where she wouldn't want to concentrate.
I started by going through book after book, the Pre-kinders website and a ton more resources before finally making my own schedule. It consisted of only two or three activities a day and over the course of the week would cover all aspects of learning at her level. There is no set time and it even accommodates if we miss a day we can make it up if we end up not doing much that weekend or by adding the missed activities to other days.
We wake up and turn on our music which consists of counting and spelling songs while we make and eat breakfast. Then on to something simple like a workbook page and then our daily walk which sometime in itself has an activity involved. When we get back is when the real fun starts with usually a stimulated art project or two. By then we start our clean-up process and my fiance is on his way through the door and its work time for me.
Work alone since I have started this new blog has been super time consuming and luckily I am finalizing my schedule for that as well while Halleigh is on vacation with her grandparents for the week. If it wasn't for a calender and tasking app i would be doomed!
So the brighter part of my day today is getting my scheduling done. I can relax knowing that soon everything won't be a big mess of tabs on my computer and running back and forth between sites and by the time she gets home I will be able to still enjoy plenty of time with my family at the end of the day (or in the middle because I can).
